Maine Police Exams

The Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) recommends an exam called ALERT for entry-level testing. The Maine State Troopers and many other agencies use ALERT. The ALERT examination is a reading comprehension and writing skills test. It is used to ensure that applicants have the requisite reading and writing skills to complete the training programs and function as a law enforcement officer.

The test is unique in that it includes a type of test known as the CLOZE reading test. This means that you need to learn how to master the CLOZE Reading Test. The only other police exam in the U.S. that uses the CLOZE is the California PELLETB. This is the prep course you will need.

Other agencies in Maine use the NCJOSI published by IO Solutions.

Applicants still need to double check when they apply to confirm this. Click on the exam link below to learn how best to prepare.

Don’t overlook Federal law enforcement job opportunities.
